The Bennett Family

How sweet it is…….Life with two of God’s most precious angels.  On January 16th 2010 my adoption of Helina and El Shaday was official!  The long wait, journey and false starts had ended.  In my heart I became their mother long before the courts in Ethiopia made it official, but it was on this day I received a personal email from the owner of the agency who stated he was so happy that he was able to tell me that my two daughters passed court in Ethiopia and they would be coming home soon! A journey that took a year and half to complete due to unforeseen circumstances that only a person with family, friends, and strong “unbreakable” fatih could endure and claim that this is indeed what God intended for me.  I am happy to say that the girls have been home almost 5 months, and are thriving and doing really well with their transition.  Their English gets better each and every day, and they are accepting many of the customs of the USA. Helina and El-Shaday’s pediatrician tells me on every visit how healthy they are and how lucky I am to have such a wonderful set of sisters.  Each and every day is a new adventure of the unknown for both of my daughters, and I enjoy exploring the new and wonderful things they find fascinating.  We laugh all the time, we have open conversations about their life in Ethiopia.  Helina started school in March upon our arrival in the United States, really did well in such a short period of time, she enjoys all types of math, and we are working on her reading skills, and El Shaday who attends day care, just enjoys the social interaction with her peers and all the educational play that takes place each day.  In closure, I feel there is no better job, than the job of being a mother, and I am so happy I was chosen to parent my daughters as God has entrusted them into care.
