Travel While In Ethiopia

In the past families have recommended certain drivers they used to other families who will be traveling, however it has been brought to our attention information that gives us concern.  Therefore, we have chosen to no longer use these drivers.  We will continue to provider a driver for your stay in Ethiopia; usually the hotel will provide transportation from the airport then our staff at Hope will contact the hotel to get a hold of you.

Fee Increase – Immigrant Visa Fee Application

We have received notification effective July 13, 2010, the fee you pay for your child’s Visa while in Ethiopia has changed from $400 to $404 USD.

Email exert received from US Embassy in Ethiopia:

As of July 13, 2010, fees for many American Citizens Services have increased worldwide as the result of a comprehensive June 2009 Cost of Service Study.
The changes in consular fees will cover actual operating expenses for our network of 301 consular posts abroad, 23 domestic passport agencies, and other centers that provide consular services to both U.S. and foreign citizens.  As is the case in all U.S. government user charges, the result is that those services of direct benefit to individuals, organizations, or groups are paid for by the users rather than by taxpayers in general.

The total charge for a child’s visa has increased from $400 to $404 USD.

Information about passport fees can be found on the Department of State’s web site at www.travel.state.gov.
